The 84th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will honor the best films of 2011. The ceremony will take place on February 26, 2012 (4:00 p.m. PST, 7:00 p.m. EST), at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.

An Oscar-nominated documentary whose filmmakers are credited with helping a man escape death row could win big Sunday night, but not everyone is celebrating.
The family of a Cub Sscout murdered in the killings explored in the series of West Memphis 3 documentaries asked the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to deny Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory Oscar eligibility. That request was denied in December, the Associated Press reports.
"It would not be possible for the Academy – its leadership, executives, or administration – to insert itself into this process without risking the integrity of this longstanding procedure and of the awards themselves," wrote Rob Epstein, chair of the Documentary Branch Executive Committee, in a letter dated Dec. 13.
And the 36-year-old actress looked suitably glamorous for her special appearance, wearing a form-fitting white dress that showed off a lot of cleavage.
She matched silver detailing on the bust of the dress with a pair of pointed court shoes and topped off her look with ruby red lipstick.
Meanwhile Kelly Rowland, 31, broke out from the monochrome tones sported by most of the other celebrities on the red carpet, shimmering in a silver and gold tiger print dress with a slight split up the front.
And revealing her dark auburn curls not only allowed the actress to be her true self, but she also admitted that her natural hair gives her a newfound sense of power.

Octavia, 39, wore a white shirt with a black patent belt around her waist as she attended the luncheon.
The Best Supporting actress nominee spiced up her outfit with a grey leopard print pencil skirt and plum coloured sandals.
The annual event, which took place in Beverly Hills today, also honoured Mission Impossible star Paula Patton.
